At PureGem Massage and Holistic therapies, I believe in nurturing the mind, body and spirit through Professional massage and holistic therapies. Sometimes it isn't enough to keep taking pills and potions in an aim to feel better. I believe that healing and holism comes from a number of different areas. I aim to create a relaxing environment personalised to help you find balance and peace. Allow yourself the time to relax, renew and rebalance with a rejuvenating treatment. About me

My name is Gemma.

I'm a nurse, a Reiki practitioner and a Massage therapist.

I have been a qualified nurse since 2012. My current nursing role is in the community as a Palliative and End of Life Care nurse. I love being a nurse and all that I can give to patients and relatives during end of life.

REIKI

I began my Usui Reiki training in September 2019 where I embarked on a journey of self discovery and self healing. It was a messy few years of healing. During this time, I found what was good in my life and what didn't serve me well. I then decided to take my Reiki Practice further and after more training and case studies I qualified as a practitioner (Okuden) in February 2024.

MASSAGE

I wanted to learn the craft of massage therapy and be able to offer a hands on approach to relaxation. So I studied a Level 3 ITEC diploma course in Massage therapy, gaining the valuable skills and knowledge. I am a qualified Massage Therapist in Swedish Massage. I also offer Indian Head Massage and Menopause Therapeutic Massage.

What are the benefits of Swedish Massage?

Swedish Massage is a light to medium pressure massage making it a gentle and relaxing experience. Swedish massage uses long, gliding strokes, kneading and circular motions and is a good starting point for those new to massage therapy.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique, also known as universal life energy and is a complimentary therapy often used alongside conventional medical treatment. It is a gentle non- invasive touch technique where the practitioner will gently place their hands on or near the body with the intension of channelling and balancing the flow of universal life energy. Reiki is not a cure for illness or disease but it can provide many benefits and will go where it is needed in the body, such as:

Promotes relaxation
Helps to ease pain
Supports the body's natural healing process
Helps to improve sleep
Supports the immune system
Reduces fatigue
Reduces stress and anxiety
Promotes a sense of peace and harmony

Deep tissue Massage

Swedish Massage or Deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage uses focussed and sustained pressure to target deeper layers of muscle and connective tissues. It helps to break down knots, adhesions and areas of tension.

All new clients will be required to complete a health form with consent to treatment prior to the appointment or to be completed on the day. It is the clients responsibility to be open and honest on these health forms and seek medical advice from a GP if you have any contraindications to treatment and update me of any new changes to your health/conditions prior to the appointment. I am fully insured and registered with the FHT.

What should I wear during a massage session?

For a full body massage, I suggest loose and comfortable clothing that allows easy access to areas being massaged. I will ensure your comfort and modesty are maintained throughout using freshly laudered towels and blankets to drape over your body. I give you privacy and dignity to undress in comfort and undress to your comfort level.

As I use grapeseed oil as a massage medium, please do not wear your best clothing. I do not take responsibility for oil/ lotions transfered onto clothes during or after treatment.

Ladies with long hair i suggest you tie up. If you are having a scalp massage your hair may get messy/oily so bring a comb!

What should I wear during a Reiki session?

Reiki requires no removal of clothing so you can wear whatever you are comfortable in. I provide a freshly laundered blanket to cover you for comfort and a pillow to support your head. I play soft and gentle music during the session.

How do I cancel/change my appointment?

I understand things happen and life gets in the way sometimes. I am also human and empathise. I do ask that you give 24 hours notice to change or cancel an appointment to avoid any wasted appointment.

I offer Massage and Reiki in my home therapy room in Ruskington. Postcode NG34 9FD. I am also able to offer some mobile service where I will come to you.

I cannot offer male clients a mobile service unless you are known to me.
